DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

SQUAD FEES - Schedule for your diary

Fees are due quarterly on 1st of January, April, July & October. Usual discount of £5.00 applicable provided fees are paid by the 10th of the month in which they fall due. Please note that fees have increased with effect from 1st January due to a rise in pool costs of almost 5%. We have chosen not to pass on the whole cost to our Club members at this time, particularly as we have already flagged that there will be an increase in the annual subs on 1st April 2009 from £36 to £42. This is because our fees to the asa will rise by up to 22%. We have to pay our asa fees on or before 31st March 2009. If you will not be renewing your membership on 1st April 2009 please inform our membership secretary, Tricia Rea [membership@cheshamswimmingclub.org.uk], as in this case we will not need to renew your asa membership and we can save on the associated fee. Your committee will be keeping under careful review all of our expenditure and keeping rises to Club members to a minimum.

SUMMER CLOSURE

The Club will be closed over the Summer holiday period. The last session will be Sunday 26th July 2009 and the first session after the Summer break will be Wednesday 26th August 2009

Fun Swim & BBQ

This fun annual event takes place this year on Friday 3rd July 2009 from 6-9pm at the Open Air Pool on the Moor, Chesham. This is a great opportunity for swimmers to have fun with their friends at the swimming club and for parents & coaches to get together for a bit of a social. Entry is £5 per person (free for under 4s) which includes a great BBQ cooked by " Phil and The Fat Dads". You will need to bring along your own drinks, soft and alcoholic, and cups but please no glass on poolside. Children can swim from 6-8pm. We need to know numbers by Sunday 28th June so please fill out your request slips asap and return with a cheque to either Wendy Sadler at training or in the club shop on Sunday evenings or alternatively post to Phil (address on the form).

ASA OFFICIALS

Club timekeepers Sonja Ballingall - Volunteer co-ordinator

Would any of our older swimmers or parents like to qualify as an ASA official? I am looking for volunteers to qualify as a 'Club timekeeper'. Anyone 14 years old or over can apply.

Judges 1

In order for the children to compete at a gala we need qualified officials to help. Without these officials the children cannot compete. The ASA have recently revised the officials training and I shall be organising a course, which will be open to all local clubs, in the New Year. There will be a group workshop where your course leader explains what is expected from the candidates. You will then gain practical experience at galas and attend a further two workshops. The final review is meeting a nominated referee or another course tutor on a one to one. Once you have completed your workbook a final assessment will be arranged for you to gain the Judge 1 certificate.

Judges 2

If you are already qualified as a timekeeper and would like to further your swimming officials career how about taking the Judges 2 course - the course will be run along similar lines to the Judges 1 course

If you are interested please call, email or speak with me. We shall be running Personal Challenge in the New Year and this is an ideal opportunity to gain some practical experience.
